Pausing the game for "duals"?

If Anyone has played most "hero wars" games such as hero Wars Ultimate, they are familiar with duals; where 2 heroes from either team are chosen randomly and they fight it out in some arena while the rest of the game pauses. Does anyone know how to make the game pause except for that one arena, or tell me however its done?

Just like Spectre here said.
But this time a bigger explanation:

Step 1:
Run a trigger to pick every unit in the map.
Pauze all these units.

Step 2:
Pick 2 heroes you have stored in a variable.
Bring these to their spawn point inside the arena, don't forget to save the spot there were before they got to the arena.

Step 3:
Restore the health of these heroes and ofc bring the camera to the arena.

Step 4:
Unpauze the two heroes and fight!
After the fight bring the loser back to life, and teleport both of them to their original spot. You can also ressurect the loser at his base.
It would be a smart thing to also store the health and mana they had before entering the arena, that way you can set it back to before the contest.

That's basically how you do it. (Very basic.) And one of many way's to do it.

Oohh, okay. I wasn't familiar with the "pause unit" command, only pause the entire game which obviously wouldn't have worked, the rest from here is easy.

These two subjects might not be related but I didn't want to start a new thread about it, and maybe you guys know what's going on. When I run the map from World editor it works fine but when I start warcraft and create it in a custom game it crashes soon after the game starts. What could be causing this? I need to test the map with multiple players but I can't; its increadibly ennoying, and I'm pretty sure its not my triggers.

Even if you pause all of the units currently in the map, any units added to the map while this 'dual' takes place will not be paused. Which means you'll need a trigger to pause units that spawn/revive during the duel as well.

Thanks, but no units spawn/are created in my game, and the dueling triggers work fine, its just this crash, I can't figure out why it happens only when I start the game in WC instead of world editor.
