I've always been curious about how exactly models are wrapped and textures are applied so I've been playing around with this model I have.
The model uses this texture:

And I completely painted the texture blue like this:

My question is, shouldn't that make the model all one shade of blue? Instead it comes out like this:

Can anybody explain to me why? What's up with the darker areas, and why does it cut off so abruptly between the two shades? ^-^

EDIT - I was told that the darker areas are because of 'normals' on the model. How do I remove the 'normals' or make them so they don't have darker shading?
