Nightfall - A Warcraft Tale, is a vast Single Player RPG aiming to create an immersive, recognizable world. Set in the northern lands of Kalimdor, featuring Ashenvale, Felwood and Mount Hyjal, it's goal is to reimagine these already known lands for the player to explore once again.

With the Burning Legion defeated and the Void Lords banished, Peace was finally starting to settle in Azeroth and the worlds surrounding it. The everlasting conflict between the Horde and the Alliance has ceased too and hope has conquered the hearts of all. A fragile pact has been formed between the races of both factions, establishing a period of peace as long as never before. Trying to rebuild Azeroth after the Void Wars did succeed much quicker then anyone could have imagined, as the cooperation between these old enemies proofed to be incredibly efficient. But not all evil has found it's end yet, and when the Nightfall begins, a new enemy will arise from the shadows...

With the majority of demons killed on Argus and only some of them still wandering around on the countless worlds that inhabit the Twisting Nether, the restless Demonhunters had finally fulfilled their duty. After a time of uncertainty what their new path would be, the order of the Illidari eventually broke up. Some returned to their old homes, only to find them wiped frome existence or to be spit upon the unholy powers they had to chosen to defend their loved ones. Others chose the life of explorers, following their former leader Slayer Itani to unknown worlds. But most of the remaining Illidari remained on Azeroth, pledging to defend it from all evil , no matter which origin. They started to wander the lands, sometimes doing simple leg-work, somtimes banishing great danger. Even though still frowned upon from mankind, they do not falter and continue their work relentlessy. You are Arael, former second of command to the Slayer, now protecting the lands of Kalimdor.

The gameplay will not be much different then any other RPG. The combat system will stay the same as the standard wc3 one. I aim to put a focus on a dense and interesting world, where straying off the path will almost always reward you. Similar to german RPG's like Gothic, Risen and Elex, I want to let the player to decide his own approach. There will be a main quest line of course, but he can approach the rest of the game as he sees fit.

There will most definetly be some kind of equipment system, a rather simple one though, featuring one piece of armor, one piece of weapon enhancement (as the glaives are a very personal part of a demonhunters gear, not to be changed easily) as well as two trinket slots and two potion slots. The amount of items will be similar to Rexxar's campaign, quite a few, but not as overwhelmingly many as in other games.

My main focus are, as I already said, the world and the people inhabiting it. Hand in hand with that come the quests. From simple killing or collecting quests to rather complex ones; I want to combine classic elements with some that have a bit of twist onto them, like tracking quests, escort quests and so on. Various factions as well as stand alone npcs will offer a multitude of quests, some even unnamed and undescribed for the player to find out for himself.

Nightfall is a project I've actually started a long time ago, constantly continuing to work on it whenever I found time and motivation. I've never actually ever finished a map for this game but I do inted to with this one, even though it might take a few more years, hence why I hestitated to create a thread here. I'm aiming to create a gameplay video soon, to give you a better grasp of how the world actually looks and acts. Until then, welcome to share your thoughts with me :)

We're in the same boat. But taking another x years?
Well, let's see what happens.
