I made a map using the NewGen WE a while ago and im wondering if i open in it the standard wc3 WE to edit and save it are there any chance of it losing anything I add in while still using NewGen WE?

Yes, in the case of triggers as normal WE can not compile JNGP triggers.
However there is no real reason to downgrade to normal WE as JNGP does everythings + more.
