hi

i wanted to ask if anyone has a fix for the following bug:

i import a sound and make a sound variable
then i want that sound changed so, i import the new sound with same file name, i even recreate its sound variable in sound editor
but then ingame, its still the old sound which i actually removed from the map

the same happens with pathing maps, i import a new pathing map under the custom directory of an old pathing map, and it will still be the old one even though i removed the old one and put the new one there!!

does this mean that the old removed stuff is still safed in the map? and everytime i reimport something, the old shit is leakeing and rotting in my map???

any fixes or knowledge about this?

here i made little map
there is a sound "1" and sound "2" ( deep voice saying one / two )
u can see the 2 sounds in sound editor
sound 1 is played after 5 sec of game time

now after u made sure that sound 1 is played in game (singleplayer)
remove sound 1 from the map!
then rename sound "2" to "1"
check again ingame

.. the sound u just removed is still in the map -_-

any solution?

Solution is easy: First remove the current sound, and then reimport the new you want. Then set the variables and edit all other data.

This will fix your bug in most cases. If something's still wrong, just repeat the process I mentioned above, but give the new sound a new and different name.

well jeah ofc u can fix it if u give it a new and different name, my worries is that the removed file is still remaining somewhere in the map and useing up storage space

If you are unsure of whether a file is still within your map, then you can follow these steps:
  • Download an MPQ Viewer. (look in our "Tools" section, there should be several options for MPQ viewing)
  • Open the MPQ viewer.
  • Open your map with it. (if it asks for a listfile you can just select WarcraftIII.txt [whatever it is called] or just click whatever default option is listed)
  • Hopefully there should be a "search" function in the MPQ viewer. If so, then just type the name of your file. If nothing appears, then that means it is not in your map. If there is a file like that, then you can just delete it.
  • If there is no search function, then you can just look through the files manually using the MPQ viewer and see if you see the file.

However, generally if it is not listed in the import manager, then it is not imported into your map.

ok however it is possible that it is useing the old file, i tracked the file size of the map and there does not seem to be a leak
maybe it removes the file which's name you changed to the removed file^^
w/e u can fix it by giving it new name and it does not seem to leak
