I have been tinkering with an idea for a map on which you can be a "pig" or a "centaur". If you are a centaur, you must hunt down all the pigs, and if you are a pig, hide from the centaur and buy items in Goblin Merchants to help you kill the centaur later. These items can be potions, power ups, and my idea, S O U L S. These souls are free to buy in the merchants. These souls will transform you to you chosen soul after a certain time limit, for example, you chose the Wildkin Soul, you must survive for 10 minutes for you to be transformed into a Wildkin. After you transform into one of the choices, you can wait for more and you can evolve into a stronger Wildkin, Enraged, then the Berserk. These evolutions can be done by a skill, with the same time limit as the S O U L S. Before that happens, the Centaur must hunt them down. I have the idea and all, but i dont have any idea how the triggers are going to work. Anyone, help?

Sounds something complicated at the moment.
I have the idea and all, but i dont have any idea how the triggers are going to work.
You can't expect to know everything in detail from the working point. You just have to work on it with time. You'll make something equivalent of piece puzzles and and at some point you'll realise they're going to fit it all together.
So I'd suggest to start in the beginning obviously, from "S O U L S".

I suggest either trying to break it down and ask for help here one trigger at a time (whenever you get stuck), or look for someone in the project recruitment forum to do your triggering.

maybe check out the triggers on map genre's like trolls vs elves or tree tag, bc it seems like you would find some similar elements there...

good luck!

If you want to start from the very basics, i recommend applying an ability for the soul item with a 10 minute cooldown, then, as soon as a player acquires said item, instantly use the item ability via a trigger (but without an effect obviously), initiating the cooldown timer.
When a player uses the item ability after the cooldown is expired, the ability will then actually do something.

Its not hard to code and can be done in GUI.
Its a nice little exercise for a new mapper I think.
