I know this game came out a while ago, but I still think it's one of if not the best RPG game in existence. It's basically dungeons and dragons with purty graphics and without the annoying stuck up nerds (unless you're an annoying stuck up nerd...) Also, the plot is amazing... the first game had a really nice plot too.

Thoughts?

I like the stories and the dialogues in the games, but the shading effects on the models in interior areas are very much awkward making some of the characters faces look like masks.
I'm not fond of the gameplay very much though, due to the slow cooldown on attacks (like the first one), but that's my personal opinion (as I prefer fight systems from games like FF9 and Diablo 2).

The toolset however is extremely flawed and inaccurate, because it gives random crashes very often (it is sometimes impossible to backup your files, because some crashes will corrupt your module). Heck, it can crash even when you save your module.
I've used it, and I will never ever touch it again.

Didn't play NWN2, but I did play NWN1, so I can't truly judge NWN2. Still, I think it's pretty safe to assume they're pretty alike:

without the annoying stuck up nerds
I have yet to see the first non-prick playing NWN1.

Also, the plot is amazing... the first game had a really nice plot too.
Bah, "let's see what happens if we make a female Pala go crazy", that's basically the plot of NWN1.

The graphics of NWN1 sucked. badly. Got to say, NWN2 looks a lot better from what I saw, but I never got to play it because of the disappointment of NWN1.

It comes nowhere near the quality of infinity engine games, other games made by bioware.

I've played both but didn't get very far with the first and its expansions. The graphic just pained me and the spells didn't seem to interesting to me.

Fortunatly, NWN 2 brought along a very nice story line and I loved you got to build up the fortress "Crossroad Keep", though it did hurt my wallet very much to build it. :)

Mask of the Betrayer was in my opinion better but also much harder since you constantly had to maintain controll over your hunger. You can't go all evil and suck the life out of every spirit cause you will die before you even get close to finishing it. Going good is the best way. I also liked seeing Bishop in the wall of the Faithless. Serves the bastard right that betrayed me.

There was a loading screen In Baldur's Gate 2 that said I was able to transfer my character over to NWN. Excited, I bought the game, only to find out that was a lie. I thought the game could still turn out decent so I tried it out, played for half an hour and then quit. I've only played the game once since, and that was like 5 years ago. I can't see the second being much better.

You have absolutely noo idea how big of a mistake you made then ><. If you like D&D that is, but still.. dude, NWN is in my top 3 favourite games in the whole damn universe. Don't get me started on how much I love it, I'll probably not shut up for hours.

But NWN2 kinda disappointed me, dunno why. When I for the first time completed the first NWN I was like crazy for a sequel, then the expansions came out and I played them and was very satisfied. But when NWN2 came out, IIIIII.... dunno, I don't like it that much. Which is friggin STRANGE, cause it seems to be a great game - it has all the stuff the first game had, the story is as good as the first, many of the first game features have been further developed in the second game. And still, I don't find it as good as the first or better. I guess I'm just too big of a fan of the first game to like any other game that much ><. Still, it seems that the second game was good, buut for me it had just pretty graphics and that's kinda it. And any D&D fan should know that graphics definitely ain't everything -.-

I love nwn2, I just got the game a few months ago (around june) and it is awesome! I like DnD(and play it) because of NWN2

The sad thing is I barely get to play it because of school and exams and until now I'm still in act 1 :|

I bought it and I actually liked it. The only thing that disappointed me, same thing as MOTB, was the plot. Terrible. The original NWN2 plot was, although cliched, very fun to play through.

I think it needs more classes though, or the ability to make custom classes easily.

The plot in MOTB was intresting I thought, but sorta confusing at the same time. I certainly wasn't dissapointed by it, and it brought a new level of difficulty with controlling your hunger.

I think it was okay. MotB was fun, too.

But SoZ pretty much sucked. No plot, really, no epic battles, no depth, really.

However, I still say that Baldur's Gate is much better than any D&D game that will ever come into existance. Especially with the new ruleset, 4.0.

(edit) I liked MotB's plot, but like somebody else said, it was confusing as heck.
