Negative Doodads...

I've seen on Blizzard maps that they can cause doodads to go partway into the ground (example is beginning of first Undead level of RoC). I use units that look like doodads all the time, but I'm tired of not knowing how to just use doodads. Plus, I noticed when I move a negative doodad in the world editor (on Blizzard map), the doodad goes back to its normal elevation. I'm guessing that there's a button or hot-key to make it decress in level I guess. I don't know...please help.
