First of all a big thanks to BlinkBoy and Mechanical Man for allowing me to edit their models.

Second of all, these models will not be released to the public due to the requests of the original model makers. Sorry! Maybe if you poke them enough they'll authorize me to send you a private copy.

I did some simple edits on a few models to conform them into the American Civil War era.

I would like hive members to pick these models and textures apart and look for ways to improve them.

In the end the models on the map will only be as good as the people playing the game perceive them to be, so I may as well get the kinks worked out on the materials before I go about creating the map.

To come are more generals (Meade, Reynolds, Longstreet, Ewell), an on-foot officer, dismounted cavalry, and both union and confederate sharpshooters.

Also working on converting Cavman's Cavalier into a melee saber cavalry unit.

Currently I do have artillery models in place, but have decided not to edit them in any way.

If you have any ideas for unit types not included or planned that you would think would fit The Battle of Gettysburg, please suggest them.

Thank you very much, now onto the models:

Pretty good! However, you should edit muskets a bit, so they look more modern, not like they were made in 1600's. I guess you could do some officer on foot.

About the artillery, what do you have or use for your project?

First of all thank you for taking the time to give your input, it is most appreciated.

Here is what the muskets the vast majority of the soldiers used in the battle looked like:
Code:

Enfield Pattern 1853

Enfield%20Pattern%201853%20Rifled%20Musket%20-%20no_1.gif

1861 Springfield

Others included a few variations of breech loading single-shot carbines that the Buford's dismounted cavalry used.

I'll work on making it more like these, I've already edited them but I do see as well where I could include more detail to make them look up to date with the period.

Spencer repeaters were not adopted until later in the war.

Also I'm using a model from a russian site for the artillery:

I've got some slight texture edits on the artillery.. currently the 3 being used are 12lb Napoleon, 10lb Parrot, and 3lb ordinance.

I'm currently trying to OK the on-foot officer edit with General Frank before I go about making it. His witch hunter model recently released looks ideal, as I it already has a sword and pistol which can be converted to revolver and saber.

These look fantastic, but maybe make the details and the texture of the details better. At the moment there quite mixed and messy.

So create more of a natural flow and uniformity in the textures?

I'll definitely work on that, I can see where things just don't match, or flow properly.

Thanks by the way.

Well I've made all of the textures more detailed, thanks guys.

Currently creating the on-foot officer, sharpshooters complete.

Does anyone know how I would go about doing a bayonet morph? I need to make some sort of a trigger or script that allows units to cast an ability that allows them to add the bayonet model.

So I'd like to have a model with and without bayonet be able to switch on command through an ability.

Well the reload time on a period rifle is rather long, if you could advance troops into melee range, you would be able to activate bayonets and demolish the enemy lines.

Like any bayonet charge in a war.

There are flag models, but how do I go about attaching a flag to a unit so that they semi-realistically carry it?

Need to look into that for a standard bearer..

The thing is that in the game effectiveness of ranged units over melee grows with increased troops on the field, even if they have slower reload time.
