Need Help With Mario Kart Map

Ok so I'm making a mario kart map and im trying to figure out the easiest and most accurate way to check whos in first place, second place, etc. I have a couple ideas, but I thought i'd see if anyone had any better suggestions.

i guess the best way would be to check out Blizzards Azeroth Grand Prix, which should be excactly what you need
