I got a big issue with my french version :

Blizzard did a very good job when translating warcraft III. It doesn't look a dictionary-pick-up-words translation, It looks common french.

The problem is that when I watch any english website, documenting on how to use some blizzard's spell, the issue is that I need so much time to find it (like crow form or locust for instance) in the list, because the reverse translation is very hard.

Then, world edit is partially translated, that means you can find both english and french in the same sentence (especially for GUI triggers) and it looks ugly.

So I need anybody to export me if it's possible his english world edit and game locales.

Is it in the internal MPQ files for the Warcraft III game. Can't find them in my installed folder of Warcraft III files.

You better find a english install file for warcraft 3, and then use your cd-key to install it.
I only think its possible to find that the illigale way, but if you not crack it, and use your
own cd-key, I dont think anyone will be mad at you.

I already got it installed and its patched to the latest version in English. If I was going to do it, I don't know what the files I need to copy, there's heaps. The campaign's would probably have been altered to their language, thus copying out the MPQ file which is huge.

I'm not so sure now...

thanks for all those reply.

Well, I don't intend to replace my mpq files. But if some files are both in mpq data and in normal folders, warcraft reads the folders one. So I just have to create a folder named UI
and place english locales files in. It shouldn't make my wc3 unpatchable since I do not modify wc3's files and keep my mpqs unchanged. And I'll be able to rename my UI folder so wc3 will use mpq's file if I need.

there are locals :

War3xlocal.mpq
  • /UI
  • /Units

I guess it's all

EDIT : there is what I can find in my English.lang file
error1=Delay value must be between 1 and 250
error2=Could not access Warcraft III to search memory
error3=Could not access Warcraft III while detecting commands, command detection disabled
error4=Could not access Warcraft III to determine if in game
error5=Could not access Warcraft III to determine game delay
error6=Could not retrieve in game delay value
error7=Could not access Warcraft III to determine pre game delay value
error8=Could not retrieve pre game delay value
error9=Could not access Warcraft III to change delay
error10=Could not change in game delay value
error11=Could not change pre game delay value
error12=Could not change pre/in game delay value

string1=Error:
string2=Version
string3=is available
string4=W3 not open
string5=Another instance is already running
string6=Support
string7=Exit
string8=Changed pre/in game delay for hosting
string9=Changed pre game delay value for hosting
string10=Language
string11=Update

It seems to be delay reducer or something alike

Does this include voices for the game? They seem to make up the huge filesize.

I don't need the voices. Just the text locales.

Well, with the voices deleted, here are the text locales, including most of the stuff except for the voices which makes majority of the file-size which has reduced significantly.

Just contains UI and Units folder, hopefully it helps. Many text files and all of these language data, but I think you looked at the right focus. Good like applying it anyway ;) . You can get it through the attachment, just extract the ZIP and load the MPQ, and you should be ready to extract the files into the Warcraft III installation folder ready to override them in the use of using the files extracted than those internally in the mainly used Warcraft III MPQ data.

You'll also see a folder called files in the ZIP; just ignore that anyways. Good luck ;) .

This works fine. It just appear that some triggers string are missing. Gonna search were they are.

Good luck, if you want I can check it again; and no, you don't have to owe me anything. I wonder if it works fine when you load it on the WE with the English language applied?

Everything is working (spell, unit names and so on) but if I put TriggerStrings.txt, some GUI trigger won't be able to be displayed (blank actions/event). Same problem with WorldEditStrings.txt were some string are missing.

Thanks for these locals, I'll use my french locals for those which doesn't work

No problem, and reputation you don't even have to owe me one. Good to see many working on maps on their anticipations to the public.

And if you want to ask, ensure you would if it seemed difficult. I'm sure it would be well handled if it seems to be answerable. Anyways, enjoy your day and good luck! Even my signature says to ask if you have trouble, I'll put it on ;) .
