I mean, you guys are waiting for someone to spin the wheel and pop one out :^]
'instead of taking initiative :b

Touché! Haha

Yeah you're right! I could help spin the wheel. I'm kinda busy until July, so I don't know if I should get things going right now. However we could already start thinking about themes for the next poll thread:

Location: the song theme should reflect a place. It can be generic place, a biome, fictional location (original or not) or an actual one. Example themes: palace, swamp, dungeon, Stonehenge, Ashenvale, My Little Pony Land, Vatican, Darkhowl I-Just-Made-This-Up Forest.

Oh, another music contest?
OK, I'm really interested!

Well, reconciling the song with a place or location theme is hard(at least for me)!

I like the location theme but as deepy stated it leaves so much freedom so i think you should narrow it down.

@Heinvers my nickname is only Nightstalker now youre still tagging the old me :p

Palace and stonehenge got my attention btw. Palaces with middle eastern spicy songs or stonehenge with celtic vibes both are equally attractive to me :3

Here are a few ideas

1) Enlightenment: a piece depicting the excitement of discovering/learning something new. Such as a man seeing an angel, a group finding a huge alien settlement in a far away planet, a nordic warrior fainting and seeing Thor telling him something and he wakes up with a godlike power and enlightenment on the battlefield etc..

2) Fairy Music: This one just came to my mind. A piece expressing a fairy world with pixies, talking rabbits, ponies, wizards etc. This can be narrowed down with only one theme chosen.

3) Pirate Music: Self explanatory i guess. I'd vote for the more action or uprising style of this genre, rather than sad pirate songs.

4) Stealth Music: The one ive suggested for the last contest.

I'llrewrite these ideas as a new reply with some examples from youtube when im back on pc.

I'm not doing that again :p

Seriously :D?

Yeah, we should really not forget about the themes that didn't make it.

I'd me more inclined to this.

I think it might be a problem with @ many people in a row or with this section of the forum as I wasn't notified this time as well.

I see open themes with good eyes because I think it can get a bigger variety of participants: a straight medieval theme might be uninteresting for some people, for example (also I may be totally mistaken, who knows).

4) Stealth Music: The one ive suggested for the last contest.

This one is certainly getting my vote!

Good, also some new examples are always welcome for the theme poll thread. More themes:

Final Boss: The participant has to create a "final boss encounter" track. It may be inspired by any fantasy lore (original, futuristic, Warcraft, etc), historical content, mythology, etc.

Journey: The track must depict a journey, with soundscapes evolving into different locations and situations. It may be inspired by any fantasy lore (original, futuristic, Warcraft, etc), actual history/geography, mythology, etc.

Battle Theme: Each participant has to create a song suitable for a battle situation. Example formats: a background song for a movie/game, a military march which is sung by the combatants themselves during war, etc.

I'd me more inclined to this.

I dont know maybe you're right tho.

You might be right, but a medieval theme is also a very open genre as well. It depends on how you wanna use that genre.

This one is certainly getting my vote!

hehe, check the others as well :p

I liked all of these, especially journey and the battle theme :3

Here are more details about my suggested themes:

1) I've started working on stealth music and I've found it to be pretty enjoyable. The ones you hear from Call of duty missions(some of them), Hitman soundtracks, splinter cell maybe etc..
- Call of Duty 4 Sniper Mission Music
- Stealth Music - Space
- Assassin's Creed 2 OST / Jesper Kyd - Stealth (Track 25)
- Stealth Music - Silent Assassin
- Hitman: Blood Money OST - 07 - Amb Zone

2) Skipped the post apocalyptic since it was the latest contest's theme.

3)Maybe a themed rap beat(industrial, gangster, horrorcore etc...). Composers can rap on them if they want to and this should be very fun imo
- F*ck Haters
- Best Rap Freestyle Battle Hip Hop Instrumental Beat
- The Game - My Life (Instrumental) Rap is not just violence, emotional ones do exist such as this ^^
- Eminem - Stan Instrumental
- Tech N9ne - Fragile Instrumental
- Outsider - Loner (Instrumental)
- Twista - Mr Tung Twista Instrumental

4)Umm.. what about Christmas themed music? Since it's that time of the year :p The examples I'm putting are not mainstream Christmas songs you guys should check them out :D
- Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo [Timeless Version]
- London Symphony Orchestra - Joyful Music for Christmas
- Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards In Winter (video)
- Beetle Juice Theme Song (I thought I could put this song under this theme since it sounds a bit christmas-ish :p)
- Figure - Beetlejuice (Dubstep Mix) (This is the previous one's dubstep mix as it says, an awesome one too)

5)Putting steampunk in again might be good. I still think this would be a hard theme tho :D
- London, 1856 - A Steampunk Orchestra - Epic Adventure Music
- STEAMPUNK & VICTORIAN ERA Orchestral Music Compilation | 2-Hour Epic Mix
- 01 Discombobulate - Hans Zimmer - Sherlock Holmes Score
- Epic Orchestral Steampunk Music - Of Fire And Steam By Michael Ghelfi
- 03 I Never Woke Up In Handcuffs Before - Hans Zimmer - Sherlock Holmes Score

6)Future Garage music or some may refer to inspiring moody songs to them Here are some examples:
- Aaron Static - I Won't
- Alivvve - Eternity(This is ambient music actually but i've found it during my search so im putting it in here)
- Phaeleh - Should Be True(This guy makes perfect music :p)
- Tom Day - Who we want to be
- Tom Day - Going Home

Here are more as well:

1) Enlightenment: a piece depicting the excitement of discovering/learning something new. Such as a man seeing an angel, a group finding a huge alien settlement in a far away planet, a nordic warrior fainting and seeing Thor telling him something and he wakes up with a godlike power and enlightenment on the battlefield etc..
- Krale - Island of Enlightenment (Epic Oriental Beautiful Uplifting)
- HENRY PURCELL (1659 - 1695) Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (2007)
- Alliance - Above All [Uplifting Orchestral Music]
- "SOUL STORM" Worlds Most Powerful Inspirational Epic Orchestral Music - 6 HOURS - Audiomachine (this one's a bit long :'P )

2) Fairy Music: This one just came to my mind. A piece expressing a fairy world with pixies, talking rabbits, ponies, wizards etc. This can be narrowed down with only one theme chosen.
This genre wouldn't be my favorite to be honest, but an idea is an idea :D
- 1 Hour of Beautiful Fairy Music

3) Pirate Music: Self explanatory i guess. I'd vote for the more action or uprising style of this genre, rather than sad pirate songs.
- World's Most Epic Pirate Music Mix | 1-Hour Mix
- ALESTORM - Keelhauled (Official)
- Epic pirate music - Destination Tortuga
- Pirate battle music - New Horizons

4) Stealth Music: The one i've suggested for the last contest.

See the previous spoiler's first option.

No but that's actually a good idea! You mean something like this?

Cinematic: participants are to create a possible soundtrack to fit >>insert cinematic here<<. (Vote for which cinematic with a comment below)

@HappyCockroach idk how much you're into this but I guess you could participate if your theme wins? =P
I didn't handle much music editing software, but I do play the guitar in bars to help make a living :p I could really put up an acoustic soundtrack.

Did you guys ever do a Music Contest which theme would be provide a possible soundtrack to a specific cinematic? (It would be interesting if everyone had to use the same cinematic to do their own soundtrack each)
That's not something too easy to do. Imagine you'd have to fit the time perfectly. Usually, it's the video that bends for the music not the other way around.

You might be too used to watch music videos. xD

But very commonly soundtracks are tinkered to fit their respective movies/videos.

I think it isn't as hard as it sounds. Mainly if you have the cinematic as a video file, which you can watch several times and look at its timeline. Also, your soundtrack might just illustrate the cinematic's successive moods. It won't be meant to follow every step or gesture of the characters with a sound, or go along with an WC3 choreography kind of thing, which requires a precise beat. xD
