I was just trying to figure out a way to reduce polygon count in gmax besides the optimiser thingy, and I found something called multires, but I do not have a clue if I have to download it, or if its already on gmax. can someone help me out please?
it's used for VERY High poly models. What it does is reduce vertices by looking into the vertex pattern you selected. It's a hard to use modifier with nice effects if done well.
Gmax doesn't support it, only versions of 3dsmax 5 and up.
