Hey guys... I've been EXTREMELY bored as of late. So here is my latest invention to help pass time...
Alright, so recently I've been helping different people (prominently WherewolfTherewolf) converting their electronic .midi orchestra to a high-quality .wav orchestra using my East/West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra sound library. Though the process requires no real skill, besides have an adequate grasp on musical art, some people don’t have $600 to spend on industry-standard sound libraries, or on a personal orchestra for recording, especially if they are doing it for modding. Being a "producer" of sorts, it’s one of the tools I have to my disposal, and bringing materials of the industry to create higher polished mods.
So, let me explain how this works. First the Rules:
1. Must Have 10 Posts
2. Must have 5 Reputation
Easiest rules ever! As long as you didn’t JUST create an account to use this, than you probably should have it already. Even if you don’t have it, if you really want to use this, it should take you less than a day to meet the requirements. There’s one more Rule:
3. .Midi must be judged favorable quality.
Just like maps, where resources are used to polish already good maps, sound library should be used for the final polishing of ALREADY good songs. The library shouldn’t be a crutch for the song to lean on, but as just an added splendor. Songs that are COMPLETE CRAP will be rejected. I'm completely fine with experimentation, just as long as the song is a song.
If you qualify for those three, you can proceed to submission. Here’s how this works:
First, attach a .midi file to a post in this thread. For example, here is an attached "recording" of a .midi file for a section of the TV Show Gargoyles theme song.
Submitted .Midi
Next, wait for the turnaround time. For a general rule of thumb, it takes about an hour for a minute long song, and ten minutes for each additional minutes. This time will change depending on the complexity of the song and request order. Truthfully, its not that long at all.
After that, pick up your freshly baked orchestra .mp3 For the Gargoyles, I used the same percussion track from the midi cause I was too lazy to do a complete example, but you get the jest of it.
Resulting Orchestra
And your good. There is a 24 hour Cooldown after a song has been completed before you can request another song (unless the que is only one person in the que)
Cheers,
