Max food amount for a single building?

You need to change the limit of maxfood:
Go to Gameplay Constants:

How much food are you planning on making? If there are too many units on the map at any given time it greatly increases the chances of a server split or a game crash.

we reached the max limit in the test yesterday and experienced virtually no lag whatsoever (but then i did just get 1GB of RAM :)). Spread out to a maximum of 8 players. thats about 37 viruses per person. and a majority capped at about 175.

Its an acceptable compromise for me, I get to keep a large amount of units in play and reduce lag issues. Although i am experiencing command lag, that is units moivng slowly or waiting a few seconds before moving.

Almost all of the major bugs have been resolved now. Whats left is to add the finishing touches to the help system, and to balance a few hero stats. I might have a beta available to put up for download by next week.

ram is not as useful as it seems, especially if you are playing on the internet. what you want is a fast connect and moderate processor, once you have thoose ram is useful. although on wc3 :roll: hmm i think you can run that on about 128 meg of ram, which isnt very much at all...the only game you need 1gig of ram for is far cry and half life 2, (and the next quake when it comes out).

The issue is resolved now.

Each player can have a maximum of 200 units. For 8 players this would give 1600 units. A strain on the Pretty much every part of your machine :)

So I introduced a world cap of 300. This limits the overall amount of units as well as those which limit individually.

After several tests the system has provided minimal lag and good strategic balance. I judge it to be an overall success.
