i'm currently reading an old guide on making custom loading screen. is the max dimension still 512x512? or its gotten better? anyone else knows the new,if any, max dimension we can import as a loading screen?
Anywhere from 2,048 x 2,048 to 16,384 x 16,384. Likely depending on the D3D11 feature level supported by the GPU. All D3D11 GPUs will support the upper bound, but older D3D10 and especially D3D9 ones will be closer to the low bound.
For practical reasons I do not recommend loading screens larger than 1920x1080. This is technically 1080p HD quality and 16x9 which is currently the most popular aspect ratio. Anything high resolution is likely not worth the extra file size just so a few people might benefit from it.
