I'm pretty sure that you played MapleStory before, it's a great mmorpg and there is a old outdated MapleStory RPG http://www.epicwar.com/maps/85817/ you should play before, why don't someone try to create an updated MapleStory RPG? Actually I wanted but I don't have enough knowledge about map creating and lacking of time because I have to focus more on study. So, I hope there is someone that would carry out this project and if you don't mind I can give you a hand and maybe provide some ideas.

Why is it easier to become an magi than other classes is the ten years of magic studies shorter than grabbing an sword and hitting stuff?

Because, in the ancient version of MapleStory, the ability points would not be reset after advanced to 1st job, so you have to pump all points to intelligence, and intelligence does not +weapon attack, which made it hard to get to level 10. Maybe you will think but there's a skill that can help the beginner mage to get to level 10, yes, but at that time, that skill costed snail shells in order to cast the skill, therefore they make it 8 to make it balance.
