Hi everyone. I know this question has been answered so many times but here i go again. Before you start yelling some nonsense answers like: "If it has been answered before why do you ask again?","You cannot handle that kind of size what is your project?" think of an answer like "No because..." or "Yes, here's how you do it..."

So, the question is: Can i make a map with the size 4000x4000? (It sounds ridiculous i know) I have been told that blizzards engine can not handle this type of size. However we all know an engine that can upgrade the map size to 464x464 or something like that. So , i've heard some rumors about the break map size limit, however with no proof. If so , is there a way to do that? Increase the map size up to nolimit? What size does IceBorn map have?

Thank you

With the current stuff out there (like JNGP) the biggest you can go is 480x480 like Heinvers said. I believe Iceborn is less than 480x480.

As far as the rumors about increasing the map size limit, I think they are talking about an addon that can allow you to play maps larger than 8MB in multiplayer.

So basically, unless you can program a new addon that increases it further I think that will be the limit. But honestly, if you try it out you will find that it is even bigger than you think. It would be time consuming and difficult to fill a map that size with details (trust me I'm trying to right now haha)

I do not think the engine can cope with such large values. Something will break, badly.

I think 480*480 is the maximum the WC3 engine can handle. I have heard of people trying to break past that size but I recall the results being un-unusable as various stuff stopped working.

What size does IceBorn map have?
It should be on the map resource page. However it appears that those fields are broken for that particular map for some reason (I have reported this).

Apparently the map is open source so you can just download it and run it up in the editor to see. I would do this but the map archive size is a bit on the large size for this to be convenient.
