Yes! Finally, freedom for the Egyptians!

now lets hope this doesnt become a militairy coup

Exactly. I will believe it's freedom when Egypt holds a free and fair election with a peaceful transition of power to a secularist.

Until that point, it's a trade of one despot for an uncertain future. I hope that in their haste, the Egyptians do not bring to power a leader who is no less evil than the one he replaced.

This happened when the Shah fell. Obviously Iran and Egypt are worlds different, but the idea is the same. The departure of one despot can make way to another, and religion can keep people sedate until the replacement despot has time to secure power for himself.

The military is basically the only institution Egypt has that can facilitate this kind of transfer of power.

Which is probably why the transfer is going to have some holes if you ask me.
