Life of a Peasant Ultimate v0.49

Hello and welcome to Life of a Peasant Ultimate. The map is still in beta stage (below 1.0) so if you play it please report all bugs, ideas and suggestions you have to me, here at the forum or at Northrend.

What is this map about?

The map simulates a modern town with fantasy elements. There are three big powers in the city. The police, the mafia and the druglord. These faction are battling each other since their winning conditions needs them to kill, imprison or otherwisly challenge the other powers. Additionally there are 7 normal villagers. These villagers don´t need to get involved in the power struggle but there is a big chance that they will. Mafia and Police want taxes from these guys and the druglord wants to sell ... well ... drugs to them.
So no one is save.

For the villagers there are a lot of unique jobs with different things to do. You can be a garbageman or you can be the cryptkeeper, delving into dark magic. Or you just can go fishing. Do what you want it´s Life of a Peasant after all. Besides of money the jobs will also provide you with skills or unique items that will help you in getting mightier. And if you are bored you can always go to the east part of town and clash some gang members.

All in all LOAP Ultimate brings the loap-genre to a new level even in the beta stage and I got many comments on b.net that this is already the best loap-map out there. So go on, play and see for yourself. I wonder if you can find the hidden skills?

The map is regurlarly updated by me and optimized with Vexorians tool. As a side-effect you cannot open the map in the editor. Sorry for that.

Features:
---------

-Winning conditions for the big three that will result in a fierce fight over the town.

-Working techtrees and many units for the big three factions.

-A drug-addiction system that will ensure that your consumers will stay consumers.

-13 different jobs divided into T0/T1/T2 jobs.
T0 jobs are jobs that do not need specific stats and can be done by different people at the same time. Fishing is a good example.
T1 jobs are the basic jobs that you can do with your starting attributes if you chose the right hero. Example is thief, cryptkeeper or mailman.
T2 jobs are better jobs that will give you more rewards and more influence. You also need a lot of stats in order to take them up so you cannot do them from the beginning. An example of an T2 job is the doctor that can set the revive price for dead heroes and will also get the money they need to pay for reviving. Another T2 job is the assassin that will need to slay other peasants or even the leader of one of the big three in order to get money.

-Taxation system
Police and Mafia can set taxes from 0% to 5% that they charge from the peasants. The peasants can also deny to pay those taxes but that may result in cop/mafia getting very angry.

-a cool banking system
Every player can deposti his gold into the high or the low security vault getting 5/10 % interest. Each coin deposit will give the police money every minute. But if someone breaks into the bank and steals the coins he steals directly from YOU. So keep your eyes open and hope that the police is on guard.

-a stonepit in the prison
If you make the police angry he can throw you into the stonepit and force you to climb some stones until you earned enough money with it to pay for your crimes.

-a casino for the mafia to let the peasants gamble for their money. Will you play fair?

-learning by doing
While the big three get fixed skills every time they level up, the peasants start without any skills. They have the possibility to get skills from their jobs. For example mailman will give you a speed bonus when you deliver enough mails. And if you deliver even more mails the speed bonus will raise. There are also secret skills in the game and buyable skills.

-imported models for several units

Yeah it´s of course cooler with more players. But if you just want to play as villager and see what the jobs are etc. you can also do that with decent fun.
So I think 1-11 players is ok.

I think, just to mess stuff up for the police. You shud put a job thingy where the mafia is. Which reads: Rob bank
    Lolololol....

To do so, I'd prolly change the model of the player into a robber model, and change the alliance to enemy (for police). And maybe to give the players more impression, put in a system somehwere, that the vilager's can set up their own sort of 'gang' or summin, and commit crimes nd shiz:D:D:D

Wtf, did you give this map a 1 just because he used a name that was already taken, even thought he was told it was alright to keep the name.

Seems so. Well it would be cool if you read Warhunters comment. He allowed me to take the name, I didn´t really know that it was taken when I named my map, but it is ok for him. In my opinion your rating is not fair under this circumstances.

The whole terrain, unit, name and etc etc.. looks like a carbon copy of other LOAP map. Infact, it look like just been stolen or edited from other resources without the main author consent. That is because those unit name, structure, terrain position and everything look exactly just like the other LOAP I ever seen.

I won't be conducting any inspection over it till I seen if the trigger was deprotect or not.

Septimus it is based off the Loap terrain made by stankynuggets and modified by rival935 for his City of Corruption map. I give proper credits in the map for both of them. Other than that all units, triggers etc. are completely by me.

If you look into the map you´ll see that there are not many similarities to all other loaps except the general idea and the 4 forces villagers, police, mafia and drug lord.

But there are no cheats, no rigged units, a taxes system, a techtree for the big three, jobs based on stats, a drug addiction system and more that makes this map quite unique in my opinion.

I hope I could convince you that this map is not stolen, hacked or otherwisly illegal. I even have the approval of warhunter to take the name LOAP Ultimate.

To be honest, you have to do better than that. Everything in this map ain't impress me at this moment.

And even if you have approval map at map section, it won't stay approve if there is a valid reason to remove it.

Like it or not, if I am not impress with the map; it would be likely won't be approve by Rui considering his standard are 50 times higher than mine.

Well after all it´s still a beta but personally I think it´s even now better then most of the other clon loaps here on hive that are mostly "me too" maps.

But of course I will work hard so that 1.0 will impress you enough to give the map an Approve

    I just played the LoaP.
Its good.... Although you should be able to use some recipes for better weapons ect.
Also, I noticed you was able to fish. Why cant you mine ore, then smith it? What about woodcutting? (Not sure if there is a woodcutting job)

But I love that you get addicted to drugs like that. But I think 1 hp a second, is too much. Considering your starting hp.
And, you dont even lose life when youre addicted
Edit: Oh, you do, but it was my HP regeneration that made me not lose life ^.^
Bugs: I found one bug; when writing ping, it only pings 3 jobs. Isnt there more? There should be. Else it aint a good LoaP

To the Drug Addiction: You should also make an medicational item, which decreased your addiction by one level. But not so your drug addiction goes fully away. You had it once - You keep having it forever.

Hey T-S-G everything you said is already included. The doctor job has an item that will reduce your drug-level by 1 per use. But it´s very expensive. Also the jobs are stat-based. So you just get the jobs pinged that you can do with your current stats. About smithing and woodcutting that would be nice, but I have no good idea how to include it so it is fun.
