You already have played World of Ham Ham 0.11 beta? If yes, you prabily has seen both normal water, swamp water, and lava, all in the same map. You want to know how I have maded this?

1 - Import to your map the attached water model.
2 - Open the "object editor" and go to "doodads".
3 - Select a doodad without pathing such as mushrooms or shurub, right-click it, then select "create new doddad".
4 - Change the model to the water model then you was imported.
5 - Set the "Maximum Scale" field to 10.00.
6 - Change the color values to Red 0, Green 100, and Blue 0 if you want to make a swamp, or Red 100, Green 0, and blue 0 if you wish to make lava.
7 - Place the doodad where you wish changing the scale according with the size and depth of your swamp/lava poll.
8 - If you are making a swamp, place it above water, so, ships can walk on it.

This tutorial is informative but is rather brief. It requires more specific examples and detail.

Ham Ham, I recommend that you combine your many creative ideas into one larger, more detailed tutorial including all of your helpful tips. Title it "Ham Ham's Map Making Guide" or something similar.
