Hey mate, just for anyone who doesnt play chess u should show the single* piece not them all it helps people get a feeling for what it would look like if they put it in there chess game. Besides that pretty cool =] Make the whole set and u are doing great

Very good model, too high poly (as you know)
but still awesome.

Would be hard to make a KI for a chess game.

Well I like the animations and the texture is alright... High poly or not, will you be releasing anymore of the rest of the pieces sometime soon?
 
wc does not crash with 1080 (max unit num) x 2000 polys on the map. lags a bit but does not crash and works fine. indeed 64x 2000 polys will be of no problem

but yess. i agree with Dondustin that the texture is weird. you were cleverly able to show the shape of the horse's head and eyes by using the different in texture but the overall wrap looks bit ugly. the mesh shape is perfect.
why dont you make a custom texture. you will be able to define the shadows and highlights better than by using a flat texture

To high polys? Erm...no. It is a chess game. 32 pieces times 2000. 64000 total polys at one time.

Now, lets say in a regular WC3 game, there are 20 units with 1000 polys, 50 doodads with 300, and 20 buildings with 1500. 65000 total.

See my point? Geese guys.


Its not just a matter of whats on the map, its also matter of whats on the screen at one given time. And the average wc3 unit is about 300 polies.

Makes no difference here. Because, your computer would have to be one crappy computer for it not to run 65k polys. Seems like a lot, but it isn't. And, the example I gave above was supposed to be all on the screen at one time.

Times have changed. People don't generally have WC3 fit computers anymore. I am on my labtop with a tiny Geforce6200. It runs 100k polys fine. lol
