Edit: Okay I will quote this from TLI-Inferno's signature:
Think of file size in terms of money. Every KB's a dollar. Everyone gets an $8,000 budget to make their maps. Being worth the price is an important part of usefulness. As such, you have to find the cheapest possible method of producing your resources so that people can afford to use them, and if no cheap method is available for the purpose, then the quality must make its value worth the price.
