First off all, be sure to explain what exact problems are you encountering on. The title of this thread seems to be confusing.
Also, please specify which version of Warcraft III are you currently using.
There are some reports that the game crashes after placing some small units such as locusts, disease clouds, or even critters (sheeps, pigs, dune worms).
Asking about locusts, it must happened to be a customized spell of Locust Swarm. This is due to the fact you increased the number of locusts beyond 10 or something similar, which can cause severe issues with framerate. However, some suggested that the corrupted model file is the main reason.
Check out this thread for more detailed information:
My problem is I increased the number of locusts when locust swarm is used and changed the locust unit, but the game crashes sometimes when its used. It crashes really rarely so idk wats up. Any ideas how to fix this?
I was playing WC3 Reforged 1.35. I was testing my custom map and I had put some LOCUST units as vision effects. When I change the lifebar display form, the game crashed.
If it's just FX, you can definitely use a doodad and use CTRL+Page Up/Page Down to lower or raise the doodad. And if you also need vision you can either use a visibility modifier (action) via the trigger editor or make a dummy unit (with the desired visibility range) that has none.mdl as its model so it would be invisible and unselectable.
