Just a small idea concerning the backupping at noon

Hey,

I do realize that the Backup job is set to be executed at 12:00 (GMT+1).
But wouldn't it be better, just going from statstics (yes it's only a few minutes) and user experience to set it to midnight..?
I may be in the wrong, seeing how I don't have access to the daytime stats.
That's all, basically.

I also apologize in beforehand if I've ever opened that topic before - I don't remember doing that, tho.

Yes, I've taken that into consideration.

seeing how I don't have access to the daytime stats.

I cannot see the amount of people logging in and out all day and night, so yeah, correct me if I'm wrong.

The site is usually pretty calm at that time. I have not looked very much into it. To be honest, if I wanted to do more about it, I would find a way to do it without disabling the site.

There is also the possibility of live backups. But those require careful planning, and are clearly beyond even the capabilities of people like Blizzard.

You can set up a MySQL replication slave and disable that database to back it up. It's more cumbersome and was horrible to maintain back when the server crashed a lot.

I remember that we (me and my former admin colleague) used some kind of cron job and some add-on thingie to keep the backup 'silent'.
I'll try to see if I can get some further info about it, if you don't mind and put it here.

I like the idea of 'silent' backup, it allows member to keep peace in mind.
Backup hits 07:00 PM in winter time for my place (not that my country has winter), or 06:00 during normal time.

Backing up the database is not a big deal tho, it's takes only a few minutes only (5minute)
