Item Cooldowns, Cooldown Groups

Hey I am a bit confused how exactly the Item Cooldowns work, which Items are put into which Item Cooldown Group, do active item abilities interfere with that? Where and how could i edit these Item Cooldown Groups?

... or can someone point me into the direction where i could read about it?

If you put two items in the same cooldown group and use one of them then the cooldown will fire for both items.

Ex. You have 3 different kinds of healing potions and put them in the same cooldown group. If you use one of them you cannot use any of the others until the cooldown is finished.
