Ive placed deep water in my map long ago , but need some of it to be gone while the terrain remains still low.

To achieve this ive increased the terain by +2 height to get rid of the water (obviously) , but once i lowered it again , be it with decreasing by two or lowering the terrain , i ended up getting water again .

It seems that place is saved as "water terrain" for ever. Is there any way to reset this so i can lower the terrain without getting water again?
