immolation being an ability that when it is turned on drains mana and damages units around the user within in a small distance. He want's to know when that unit runs out of mana hence when the ability is forced to be turned off.

You can just check when the unit's mana becomes less than 0.50 (not 0.00, because that's rarely ever the case).
