Sigh. I love when I get to explain Demon Hunter's.

Demon Hunters undergo a demonic-like ritual, their eyes are scorched out, and runes are burned/scarred into their chests/bodies. Warglaives are their preffered weapons because they are swift and enchanted with magic. Most warglaives are best against demons. Demon Hunters, through their blindfold, see demons mainly, but when other organisms are around they see them, however they are a bit fainter.

I thought Illi was in jail. Who scorched his eyes? Sounds like a nasty elf hazing thing.

I still don't understand
How does putting hot coals on your eyes aid in seeing large demons. I can see this guy just fine.

Actually TDB, Sargeras did himself help Illidan become A Demon Hunter. He gave him runic tatoos that actually empowered him, and he gave Illidan orbs that would replace his eyes. He used the blindfold "The Cursed Vision of Sargeras" To find demons, and know where they are.

Still does not explain the whole equation
Hot Coals + Eyes = Better Vision
Lets apply this to another part of the body.
Hot Coals + Feet =/= Better Mobility
No conclusion reached.

For the Heavens, this is a game.

Also, all the Demon Hunters are trained in the demon hunting arts since childhood.

When they mastered the arts of fighting (5.000 years or so) they have to make the auto-blinding ritual. Then, using night elfish magic, they can see demons and the other things.

You guys ask: How Hot coals + Eyes = better vision? Ok, were talking about Warcraft. How the priests can use heal? How the night elves can become invisible? How the critters can explode after several clicks?

It's a game. It's Warcraft, pure fantasy, not real life.

Taken from WoWWiki:

"Illidan's eyes were burned out by Sargeras himself, despite still being beyond the portal, and orbs of mystic fire set in their place that allowed Illidan to see all forms of magic, and arcane tattoos covered his body."

"Obviously they could not gain their powers in the same way Illidan did, but they discovered other means. In the millennia since, other night elves, and a few creatures of other races, have made the same pact, binding demonic essence in their bodies and using it to destroy the Legion's minions."

Acctually I do believe that anyone would run pretty fast if they'd happen to stand on hot coal.

Anyways, this eye-thing. I think it would be more like Hot Coal+Eyes+pewpewMagic=Better Vision(when looking for demons)

Illidan probably burned out his eyes in the Well of Eternity when seeking power. That's my guess from what I've read of the lore. Either that or his eyes were burnt out as part of his punishment.

Or maybe that's the truth. Do'h. I need to learn to read threads! XD

In the game there is a reference to MalFurion blinding him as part of his 'punishment' so I'd say he developed the power to overcome the punishment, at some point it might had become ritualiced by the other demonhunters tho.
