All right, this is a pretty cool idea, but the looks could use some work. Firstly, the teamcolor is very sharp and stands out way too much. This could be easily fixed by reducing the transparency of the alpha layer, and also darkening the background in the barrel texture. It would also be nice if you added areas of rust, or just chipped-off paint, where the teamcolor doesn't show.
Second, the fire in the burning variant looks really bad. You need to increase the dimensions of the emitter, give it some latitude (5-6 degrees is enough), increase the speed and lower the lifetime, don't use "0 - 0" for "Head (decay)", since this causes the flames to not animate for half of their duration. Finally, it would be great if you could have something else than a black hole at the top of this barrel, maybe you can fit some junk in the texture to show there?
EDIT: Oh, and there seems to be a problem with the smoothing - it has a seam, which causes weird shading.
