Positive, does not work. Take another approach like unit training with 0 build time or as item or as ability (costy morphing maybe?) or removing the unit after purchase or only filling the stock when the requirements are fulfilled. All have pros and cons and depend on your exact situation.

i suggest training unit with 0 build time.

It's that neutral building? Because if it isn't, you can first set a trainable unit (different instance, same icon) for this building (stats - units trained), when the research is being completed, remove the avalaibilty of this unit and add avalaibility of the sold unit.
