How to make a map in 'Darkness' but with lighting from torches n such?

Okay, so that makes it dark. But removes any glow.

What I want is something similar to a real night. Where its dark and harder to see all models. But torches have a radius of light, illuminating all nearby units.
 
Using that technique, the area will get dark, but if you have torches, they will light up the area (provided that they have omnilights (considered as light sources))... torches and lamps have that property, though they only cover a really small area... but you can create your own omnilights... the UTM also have one...
