Well... you must begin with easy spell. You can't assume that from the beginning you can already begin to do such good and powerful spells. You have to learn how to work with triggers, which you can done by yourself. Once you have familiarized with them you can begin to make simple abilities. Then more complicated and more complicated and better, and better and in this way you will become a very good spell maker. But this needs time and patience. Don't just be impatient that your spells don't work and just give up. Keep trying and eventually you will make it (and I'm telling this to you from personal experience, not just to sound very philosophical).

I wouldn't consider a spell to be "strong" just out of triggers (i always thought of high damage spells to be "powerful"). Perhaps a better word would be.... much more exciting or....cosmetically appealing, or more.......dynamic..... that's all i got.
