How does one convert a .3ds file (or .max file) to .mdl/.mdx???

i tried looking at art tools, in the tool section, but that is for 3ds 4.... and i JUST got 3ds 12.... how do i convert??? i also tried the 3ds/obj to MDX converter in the tools section here, and it crashes when i try to use it... any advice?

Use a older 3ds... I think thats about the only way unless there is some exporter script somewhere for it.
