how do I set units range to <value> when he picks up a bow

I know this has been answered, but I couldn't find the thread that answered it.

So, how do I set an units range to like 600 when he picks up a bow, and then melee when he drops it?

Make two of the same units in the object editor.
Then one with a low attack range, and one with long attack range(600)

The use the ability chaos to morph the unit.
I.e
When pick up a bow, morph the unit into the unit with long attack range

Wouldn't it be possible to modify the long-range upgrade to riflemen to make it fit an item?

You cannot undo a research
and I do this as an item, for heroes, and I cannot have duplicates of heroes (would screw the triggers)..

I'm sure there was one way with accusations range and some other thing..

You can have two different attacks, and change which one is enabled via various methods (There are certain abilities which change your attacks enabled, though I can't think of them off the top of my head).

There we have it! Thanks purple. So I'll just change the bow to like an orb of fire?

But in wc3 vanila that only gives them ranged attack against air, how to make it against ground? (I'm tired now so might ask dumb questions...)

set the checkbox in 'allowed tatrgets' to 'ground' (object editor)

What I meant was that if orb of fire allows you to use the second attack, but it got the same allowed units as attack one, but it only triggers against air units.


I'll give it a look.

It's because Attack 1 is triggered before Attack 2 if both could be triggered.
