how do i change the requirement for the lurker den

Make a new requirement in the requirements catalog. You then change the requirement reference in the zerg build ability for the lurker den from the generic zerg hive requirement to the new requirement you made.

You can then customize your requirement as much as you want without changing any other building as you have decoupled it.

i want the lurker den to require the lair but i cant figure out how to change it so that it requires a different building than the hive. the requirement however is built in so i dont need anything new. i figured it out on my own but it would have been faster if you had helped me.

Ok... I guess I got the ability wrong (I thought drones built lurker dens...) but the solutions is still similar.

The requirement is located...
Catalog: Abilities
Entry: Hydralisk Den - Morph Building (Hydralisk Den -> Lurker Den)
Field: Commands - Requirements
Command (in the popup window): Execute

Should currently be set to...
Have Hive

Change to whatever requirement you want.

The data editor is that logical.

could you help me figure out how to place the spore cannon.
As in...
Build?
Morph into?
Place in editor?

Please clarify

If you want the drone to morph into one, you need to add it to the morph ability the Drone uses to morph into all buildings. You need needed to add a button for it to the command card for the Drone. Finally you need to hook the button to the actual ability order to do the morphing.

The problem is because the Spore Cannon has a different sized Footprint for placement than it uses. For placement it uses a 2x2 Footprint while for the actual unit it uses a 3x3 Footprint. Because 3 is not divisible fully by 2 it tries to build the building offset by half a tile which is an invalid placement location.

The fix is to simply change the placement to a 3x3 creep Footprint. Of course you could shrink the unit Footprint to 2x2 as an alternative but that would look poor with the default scale of the Spore Cannon as units could then stand inside it.

You will also need to make some actor changes so that it is built in an athletically pleasing way (not creating errors) and to add the build in progress ability (and its required cancel button) so that it behaves like all other Zerg buildings. Sorry about the late reply, I forgot this thread was still outstanding.
