I'm making a map that needs to have a unit such as say a forest troll to hold a gun. I've seen it done before in other maps so I know it's possible. Looking at those maps though, I can't figure it out. Can anybody help me with this?

  • Special Effect - Create a special effect attached to the attachment point of (Your Unit) using Your attachment
To attach something such as a gun, use attachment points such as left or right hands. You can find a detailed list in this thread:
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/f278/how-attach-model-effect-unit-7314/
Instead of triggering it, you can use a dummy ability such as Item Damage Bonus and then set the art and attachment fields properly.

Ah, thank you. I appreciate it.

{EDIT}
Hmm, I'm having trouble with the tutorial. Does this look right?

Do that. Remove the Wc3imported/ at the start of the model file in your import manager. Almost all models need this to be done.

Well, I've tried everything you guys have told me to do. Nothing worked. Could it be that I'm confusing it by working with resources from two different hard drives?

import the model file.
create ability (ability base Capture the Flag)
set model = imported model that you want to use
Add att point (hand) add another to the same one (left) or (right) make sure the end result is hand, left or hand, right
add ability to item

Use the picture above.
Different hard drives shouldn't matter since all files are in the map itself
