I'm thinking this should be in the maps forum, and I cannot quite understand what you are asking.

If your wondering on how to attach weapons to models in maps through attachment points, it would belong in the map section.
If your wondering on how to make weapon attachment points on models, I can help you if you are using the Art Tools and 3dsMax5. Create a simple geometry (a 10x10x10 box is what I use), goto the Utilities Tab, click more, then User Defined Properties. Expand the Geometry Setting (I forget what it is called, I believe it is the third from the top), and click attachment points. Give it a name appropriate to the position it is at.

Not exactly what I was looking for...

Maybe my question wasn't clear enough, let me re-state it:

Okay, I noticed you can download weapons from the site, and I have seen some comments that say something about attaching them through triggers to the right or left hand. If someone can tell me how to do this it will be greatly appreciated.

Attachment Point Names:
overhead (floats over the unit's head, but doesn't sway with the head as it animates)
head (sways with the unit's animation)
chest
origin (usually at the base of a unit's feet)
hand
foot
weapon (for heroes)
sprite (for buildings)
medium (for buildings)
large (for buildings)
Attachment Point Modifiers:
left
right
mount (for mounted units)
rear (for quadrupeds)
first (for buildings)
second (for buildings)
third (for buildings)
fourth (for buildings)
fifth (for buildings)
sixth (for buildings)
rallypoint (for buildings)

those are all the points you can put in as values. use this action:

special effect-create special effect attacthced to ____ point (insert value from above here) on ______ unit using ________ (use the model of the weapon or equiptment here)

use any conditions or events you want.
i hope this will help you -----AlphaChicken

Since Orb abilities don't stack, if you're planning to use Orbs as Orbs in the map, don't use them as attachment placers. Use an ability like Slow Aura (Tornado) which can be set to have target art and to do nothing, which together are ideal.

The Sphere ability will destroy the special effect after x attacks, where x is the number of attachment that you have it set as. Then it will re-create it after a short period of time where the unit is not attacking or casting spells. That's the drawback to using this as a special effect skill.

I tried it, too. I wanted to attach an axe to the hand of the mountainking, which holds a hammer, so that he has two axes. My problem was, that the hammermodel was still there, and the attached axe was in a weird angle.
Is that only possible through modelling or am I doing something wrong?

Ok guys, please say something. I know now, that in my upper example the original weapons of the mountainking should be alpha'd out, which I can't, but that's another story. But one problem would remain, the axe I downloaded is placed in the right hand, but in an awkward angle. Doesn't look good. Is that a problem with the weaponmodel?
