Hawkwing's Texture Portfolio

Here I will post all my current and past works that I feel are fitting enough to go on this page.

You may give your opinions and ideas, or even give me some pointers and suggestions. But please do not tell me to fix any part of any of these. I will not be making any changes.

Elf Hermit
Face and Hair Experiment

ElfHermitExperiment.jpg

I was going to evolve this into an all-out skin,
but I ran out of ideas and just worked on
the face until I got something decent. The beard
was just something I cooked up in five minutes.

Forge King
UV Experiment

DarkIronForgeKingIncomplete.jpg

This was one of my first times starting from a UV
instead of just painting over the original texture. I
wanted to see how well it worked for me, eventually
the way I used the UV evolved from this, and it's
quite easier now.

MEOW Bear
First Skin

MEOWBear.jpg

My first complete skin that wasn't an utter failure.
Utter failures include recolours, dodge/burn spam,
smudge spam. The result on this was surprisingly
good, I haven't really been able to make
something with such enthusiasm since. The main
problem here, as stated by THE_END, was
the lack of colour.

MEOW Turtle
Third Skin

MEOWTurtle.jpg

My third complete skin. I am quite happy with
the result, but I'm sure that if I went back
and revised this skin it would be much better.

MEOW Magnataur
Sixth Skin

MEOWMagnataur.jpg

The result of this was pretty nice, but it
definitely didn't suit the theme I was looking
for. Unfortunately I lost complete inspiration
on this, for reasons stated over at Wc3Campaigns.
Hopefully I can use what I learned from this to
make my next skin better.

MEOW Penguin
Second Skin

MEOWPenguin.jpg

All in all the result was alright. The shape
was fine and shading was close to what I
wanted, the only major problem is the wacky
colours. One moment it's whitish blue then
the next it's yellow with black stripes.

Molten Throne Ambassador
Fourth Skin

MoltenThroneAmbassador.jpg

A quick two day redo of the Lich texture
to give it a more fiery appearance.
This could be quite useful, if you ask me,
but there wasn't a ton of changes.

Sand Troll
Fifth Skin

SandTroll.jpg

It took forever to make, but it was
worth it. This is probably one of my
favourite skins. The biggest problem,
aside from some poor smudging, was that
something happened when I converted the
skin and the armpit turned green. It's not
noticeable in game though.

Sand Troll Icon
Second Icon/Perspective Experiment

SandTrollIIcon.JPG

Like the skin I made to fit with this, I
am really happy with the result. The
purpose of this icon was to try to teach
myself some proportions and perspective.
For a second icon I am quite proud.

Um, the hair ampersand beard on that Druid look kinda ... horrific. Fortunately, you seem to have dropped that style :D. The MEOWs, although they're your signature skins, don't really seem as good as your standalone skins. E.g. that Sand Troll, which is quite the badass.Also. Err. Did you only do the beard on that dwarf fellow? No intriguing armour components?

Like it says. It's an experiment testing out different techniques. It's not going to be a skin that I'll actually complete and submit.

With the dwarf I lost interest halfway through, and the face was a failure. But I found out how to manoeuvre through the UV from it.

I like the sand troll skin, but I suppose you made the chest clothes on it to hide the abs that you once said you hate to do? Anyways, looking like some good textures overall.

Yes and no. I was going to do them in the first place, but that was more or less their purpose.

I wanna see you start another series of skins
Some other inspiration...like..a series of either Warlocks, or some race type
The M.E.O.W skins demonstrated that you can keep a common theme between skins
So therefore..do it again

The Molten Throne Ambassador turned out looking really good but if you were to make something like that again (molten or flaming) that is undead think about maybe scorchign the bones a little.. I don't know how that will look but its just an idea. Great work on the sand troll though! it turned out amazing!

Nice work.
How did you get the UV on the mountain king, showing just white lines?
Also, the mountain king seems as a great start, do you intend to finish it?

I imported the model into milkshape and did some tricky stuff to make it sexy.

And I don't intend to finish it. The mountain king is a pain.

I'll keep that in mind. Now that I think about it it should have been more grayish black. But all in all the entire point of the skin was making the Lich not so blue/purple and icy.
