Giving an Upgrade multiple levels

Anyone know a possible way yet to create multiple levels of an upgrade (In this case 99 levels, the players shouldn't be able to reach that high of a level of an upgrade but I need a cap.) I tried increasing the maximum level of the upgrade to 99, but it disappears after the first time researching it on the building.

I had this problem myself and the only way I have found to make more upgrades is to actually manually create them individually, which is a terribly annoying process.

If you want I can go into this terribly complicated and annoying, yet very powerful, method of making extra upgrades.

Wow.. so I can only have a max of 32 buttons for the command card on the upgrades, I was only gonna goto 10 and I can't?

Edit: Ya so it seems a single building can only have a maximum of 30 researches tied to it, so looks like having upgrades goto 99 is a no go unless theres a way to do it on a single upgrade in data editor that we've all missed instead of creating individual upgrades.

Dear god upgrades are a huge pain in the ass to figure out, finally got the building to store each level of the upgrade (10 individual upgrades for 10 levels of the upgrade) except that the upgrade won't increase it's level as you use it, and one upgrade that should only have 1 level won't disappear when researched.

EDIT: Ok I think the reason the upgrades do not properly increase level-wise lies within the Requirements stuff, I took a look at some pre-made upgrades (Protoss Weapons 1-3) as an example and when looking at the Requirements in the data editor they had some things I didn't have on my upgrades check the Requirements + area and see what you guys can find.

I figured it out! Only thing I don't like about it is that the cost of the upgrade doesn't increase. But I made it so that you can click 1 button over and over and over again and it will keep upgrading to the max level of the upgrade. I'll post how in a bit.

Solution: Ok, I'm assuming you already know how to make the upgrade. Once you have the upgrade made set the "stats - max level" to whatever level you want it to get up to. Then in the requirements tab, go into the "Requirements +" field and get rid of all the requirements nodes except the constant in the "show" folder. Then make the constant node 1. Now your upgrade should be able to be clicked the amount of times the max level is.

There is one problem that I'm working on (besides the resource one I mentioned), and that is that the icon NEVER goes away (I'm thinking it's the constant 1), so it stops giving you more upgrades (max level is 3, you click it 3 times and it does 3 upgrades but you can still click on it and it just doesn't do anything but take your money!).

Hope this helps and I will continue to work on the mentioned problems.

Oh please do lol, I'd much rather have that working than just like 10 levels of an upgrade, and the cost doesn't make a difference for the map.

Edit: I've figured out how to make upgrades that increase in cost and time and such, but your limited on how many of them you can have unlike how you may have discovered how to make 99 levels of an upgrade but all of them have the same cost. I think I'll post a separate thread detailing it.


Edit in response: So the requirements thing is the issue we had :) Alright perfect, I figured out how to use that so getting my upgrades going will be easy now, that also explains why a single level research I had wouldn't disappear after using it.

I edited my post, I wish it didn't have the problems it does but I'm working on it.

Edit: I found a workaround for the "it's not disappearing when you hit max level" problem. You can simply use a trigger to check what upgrade level it's at when you click the button to research it and then disable the upgrade when it hits the max level which then makes the icon disappear from the building and you no longer waste money!

There's got to be an easier way but this way works lol.

And now 3/4 of my upgrades have disappeared off the building.... ugggggggh *head -> desk*

Edit: Got em back on the building, but they still only work once when using the 1 upgrade with 99 as the max level thing.

Edit 2: Got em working properly :D I only need a few more triggers and I actually have this map done already!

I don't know what to tell you, I've got 1 upgrade giving me as many as I want, wish I knew what was wrong for you.

EDIT:
If you make your upgrade requirement look like this then it will hide itself after you upgrade it 5 times, no need for triggers!:

Just choose the Count Upgrade option and then select which upgrade you're using and add the constant for whatever level you want.
