Fan of "healing" knives?!

Ok well my friend asked me if i can ask this on here.How can he make a fan of knives but instead of dealing damage to enemy units it heals ally units? It will require a dummy unit im sure but what should the trigger look like and would the dummy unit have any spells?

Well it's really easy.
Change it to target friendlies.. then hold shift and double click on the damage field, this allows you to input negative numbers.

so if you put -50 it will heal for 50.

get a dummy ability such as channel. change its values and blah blah blah. now trigger it. on the actions, there is an action called special effects. create one and create another action called destroy last created special effect. also make it pick every unit around your caster and set life of unit to life of picked unit + <Insert Value>

how about this, DONT use fan of knives, use a dummy ability, stomp would be perfect. then add the fan of knives model to it, then use a trigger a trigger to pick up the units in the range you want, then heal them.

I didn't quite understand what you said, could you elaborate more please? What exactly are the consequences of using negative numbers on damaging spells?

It means when the targeted unit has a high defense or the unit has spell reduction armor like hero type armor the heal is reduced, like how damage weakens when attacking a unit with high armor.
Meaning the healing isn't exact unlike holy light which heals to its designated setting.

The only inconvenience I see to your solutions is that there are no missiles that actually go to your allies. I hinkhe wanted to ask if you could change Fan of Knives to heal because he wanted projectiles.

I see. I didn't know that. I'll have to try it out. Thanks for the info!

I suppose you could use dummy units for the projectiles, but that may be more trouble than its worth...

No, the projectiles do very much have something to do with the spell. I tested it with 150 projectile speed and as you can see in the screenshot below, some archers are healed, some aren't, so don't tell me that the damage is done instantly. If you don't believe me, then you can try it yourself.

I see the problem here, say the spell does 50 damage and the target has 50% damage reduction because of armor.. they would only take 25 damage.. so theoretically if the spell deals -50 then they would only be healed for 25.. makes sense, if you want a perfect spell you'll have to use some triggers.

What about using the "scroll of healing" item ability (well, something like that, i'm using a friend's PC atm and he hasn't got Warcraft) to make the AoE healing (though it hasn't got the same options of Fan of knives...For example you cannot set the maximum "healed" quantity...i hope it won't be a problem for you) and then use a dummy unit to cast a Fan of Knives that deals 0 damage but affects friendly unit (you could do the opposite thing, Fan of knives on the hero and healing on the dummy) but then AI wouldn't use it correctly

JUst creat dummy´s with an edited Sphere from the blood mage add change the missle to the fan of knivse missle. Also you give the dummy unit an healing ability. If you cast the spell now (change it to the Keeper Ulti with no channel time; ki should use it) let dummys and let them heal all target.
