Exporting models?

Ok.. so im maken a custom loading screen, I did the tutorial correctly and when I went to go export the monolith loading screen i saved it but it seems to not reconize the .mdx file path... so when i save it, it just has a blank box below the title..do i need to download something or can i just not save files as .mdx? i have Windows XP Home. Any help is appreciated.
