How bout the guy is a reconissaince pilot for the Alliance after the fall of Archimonde. While out on a mission, he sees a flash of red light and his engines begin to fail. He lands on an island and must find and construct another rotory blade to replace his broken one. After doing so he attempts to return to his base and airfield only to find it abandoned and an orc scouting party investigating the area and stealing supplies. The dwarf lands without being seen and investigates once the scouting party has departed. Among the supplies he finds a map with a chain of islands he has never seen before with the largest one being circled by whomever owned the map.
The dwarf picks up two more fuel tanks for future use and heads towards the archipelago. On his way he is chased by a squad of wyvern riders but they turn away before getting close to the island. As if there was something forboding about the place. Upon landing he spots the remnants of a fleet up ships crashed against the rocks and shores of the island. He recognizes the crest upon the barrels as that of his division and begins to question what is occurring. He makes camp and retires for the night but is awakes hours later to find himself surrounded by a dark green mist. Upon looking at his surroundings he finds the landscape has drastically changed. THe trees and shrubbery have become blighted and decayed. Numerous nightmarish creatures stalk the island and the dwarf fights for his survival.
He stumbles upon a ruined village Full of corpses and lost spirits. He locks himself in a house for shelter but passes out from extreme shock only to wake up and find the island has changed once more!
The island reverted back to its original self and the building he locked himself into was actually an abandoned home inside a thriving town! The residents are extremely welcoming but he gets the strangest impression they are hiding something. Only one person openly speaks of the islands plight, a shrunken old man living in a decrepid cottage. The other residents dismiss his words as those of a cenile old man. However the dwarf cannot ignore the truth in the mans voice.
The man tells the dwarf to pursue the two pieces of a shattered keystone. This keystone was required the lift the plague from the islands. These pieces ere placed on two of the chain's islands, one living in light and the other lurking in darkness. Reuniting the keystones allows the owners access to both worlds at will and is required for access to the beast the lives between both worlds, the beast that is playing the a deadly game that may merge the world of nightmare with the world of light.
Switching between both worlds multipletimes would be required to access certain areas blocked off in one world but open in another. You could link two maps together for this. Unlike a lot of campaigns you can make one master map and several smaller maps branching off from it. The gyrocopter and the dwarf are the only things that stay constant in both worlds and he can use it the nightmare world and the normal plane.
Its a long plot i know but maybe itll help out
