So, I'm making a map now, where up to 8 players can play dice games in wc3.

For now, I'm about 80% done with the first game, Farkle.

I plan to include Yahtzee, Farkle, Bonko, and Craps.

So, why am I in the Idea Factory? Two reasons!

One, I would like to hear some opinions on this idea. I can't find dice games on here at all, and would like to know the general perception of the idea.

Two, I still don't have a name. Any naming ideas would be great. For now, I'm using a temp name of "Dice Games" whilst working on this, but it seems a little too plain.

I'd appreciate any help, and of course, the name I choose to be used will be credited to the person who came up with the name! Also, I will of course award rep for helping as well.

Thanks, and I look forward to everyone's ideas!

If you wanna make a good dice game, try making a game of Risk, but the way it's meant to be, the board game way.

Pure chance sucks.

D:

Not board games, just dice games, :(

I'm starting to understand why nobody has made these yet. =\

Maybe just mix in a bunch of different types of classic games, imo dice games on their own aren't substantial enough to work well as a wc3 game - mix in some board games and it may be more interesting.

Maybe do like a classic game challenge where the players compete in a few different classic type games, whoever gets the most points in the end wins.

I wouldn't be able to set up anything like that myself. I do like the idea though.

Although i'm thinking more along the lines of perhaps gambling games. Maybe poker or something.

Texas Hold'em
Blackjack
Craps

Sounds like the start of a casino, :D

By dice games you mean those go to this path with traps of 60 cells, first who comes win?

Look a neat idea, but add also ai if no one can be found to play with you. AI should be trivial to add.

Not that kind. I'm talking games like Yahtzee, or Farkle. The dice ARE the game. Furthermore, Yahtzee is possible to play solo. So, in single-player I could perhaps have it run a single-player mode of Yahtzee. The others aren't exactly doable in single-player without an AI, though.

Bumpage.

I still would very much like name ideas!

Although apparently the general perception seems to be that people around here don't like luck-based games, I know that some people quite like games like Yahtzee (Considering how many millions of gamesets sell each year). And, bearing in mind that while dice games are indeed luck-based, there is some matter of skill involved as well. Being able to manipulate the scoring to suit your needs, for example.

In Yahtzee, if you need a 4 of a kind, have not filled in your 4's up top, and roll 4 4's.

You have two options. Put it up top, or put it below. You put it below and it'll count up to more points because you get to add in the fifth die to the total point amount. However, if you are short up top, you would want to put that up top to make up for it.

That takes knowledge and skill to manipulate the scoreboard.

Furthermore, the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking about adding in fun alternative gameplay modes to it.

For instance, I'm thinking of a "Battle Mode" for Farkle, where it would play similar to the gameshow Catch21 where, if you gain points, you can choose at the end to add them to your score, or to reduce the number from another player's score instead.

I'm not sure what I could do with Yahtzee to spruce it up, it doesn't really leave much room for editing, lol.

Stuff like that, though are extras that would be added later on after the base is complete (The games themselves, in their normal forms).

Yahtzee with 6 D20? That's a little crazy, lol.

Man, that'd be a LONG game. I like it, though. I can add that to my list of "LongGameMode" modes. And I'll credit you for the idea, :)
