The Lunar Eclipse

Anyone else see it tonight? It's awesome, and apparently only comes about every four hundred years.

Around, 11:33 to 1:10 EST tonight I went out to take pictures of the lunar eclipse.

Using a Canon Rebel XS with a Zoom Lens I got This:

Couldn't find it on the sky before it was only a small small shard left. Cool though.

I sat around for ~20 minutes trying to stare through clouds as it went from half dark to completely dark, then said "why did I do this?" and walked inside.

It was cool though.

Yeah, it was like a fog was going over it... then it turned red. It was like something out of a halloween horror movie.

A lunar eclipse is a common occurrence. This specific one happened on the winter solstice, which only happened once before in that last two thousand years, in about 1658.

And the sky was overcast. QQ

Because it only happens on the solstice every few hundred years. Otherwise it is a very common occurrence. I remember one happened a few months after my son was born. That would have been...2008.
