Death and Decay not staying and casting anymore / bug?

Hi all,

i am experiencing a weird bug with death and decay on my map, in which i set up cast levels to lvl 10 and increase the area slightly every level.
Normally i can cast it no problem on level 10 and the effect stays for about 25 seconds, damaging any enemy unit in it unit it disappears.

There is a way to reduce the cooldown of D&D to - let's say 5 seconds, meaning that the hero can cast multiple fields of D&D, which work fine in the first
couple minutes. But as the game goes on, D&D starts behaving very weirdly:

I can cast it, the cooldown shows up normal, the Ability starts with the dark purple to black effects but disappears almost instantly again.
It only does 1 tick of damage to one random unit (sometimes), nothing else happens anymore.

What causes this behavior of abilities, i had a similar case with the smoke bomb area effect a while back.
This also only happens when you play on a map for ~ 1 hour+.
