Hi there,
I've been on the Blizzard Map forums off and on for about three years now as I work on a campaign that may or may not ever be finished. I've based the campaign off of an RPG called Talislanta - http://www.talislanta.com/gallery/pdcron.htm
It's a completely different world with about 50 races to choose from, none of them looking like normal humans or elves for example. In fact the game used to advertise with the slogan "No Elves."
So far I've made two factions each with about 6 new heroes, 25 new units all with new spells (except sleep, I kept that more or less as is). There's eight maps so far with cinematics and what not, re skinned interface, units, etc. I still need to do some voice work, one more map, touch up a few details like the wait times on cinematics, make an easy/hard mode perhaps, and maybe touch up a few ugly skins.
I play World of Warcraft on Twisting Nether. I run a guild called the Cartel Enforcers who work as goblin mercenaries and free market traders across faction lines. In real life I work at a University and recently finished my PhD in evolutionary biology. I do a lot of reading on economics and politics as well and have recently become a die hard libertarian.
I love this site, and it saddens me to see the Blizzard Modding forum so dead.
Finally, I don't play as many maps as I should, as I spend all my time on my own campaign.
Also, the Campaign I'm doing now is for the Seven Kingdoms (the "alliance" of Talislanta if you will) and the Submen are next (aka. the "Horde"). I'm interested in finding a partner to help me make those maps, though obviously we'd have to see each other's work to make sure we were on the same skill level. Someone too much better than me might get annoyed by some of the sloppy skins that I use... someone too much worse wouldn't do me much good.
Well, good to be here. Thanks to the people who run this site, I love it.
