Well, I've never done this before.

Is there some sort of guide for cutting the UI into proper pieces so it all fits together? Any specific file type needed(like .tga)?

See, I can MAKE UI in Photoshop, but have no clue how to get it into the game and make it work properly.
 
get wc3 image extractor II;
use it to examine the contents of mpq archives.

once you see how the interface is put together, export the image to tga, edit it, convert back to blp (if if was blp before), import into your map, change path (in import manager) to EXACT path in mpq archive.
