Connecting Problem?

Hello...

I don't know if this is supposed to be in this forum but I have been experiencing this for more than a month now and I need to get it out:

Am I the only one that has trouble connecting to the Hive at some times?
Because at some times of the day I have to refresh⁴ my browser before I am able to connect... and I'm pretty sure I have a fairly stable internet connection.

If this is a problem with the site, I hope it gets fixed.

If other users have this problem, please do tell me too.

No... in my location I know the time when the Hive is backed-up...

Usually it says when I can't connect are the usual:
-Google Chrome can't connect...
- This webpage is not available
- There is a third one that I forgot...

Normally these are the ones that appear.

Well, I am in the Philippines right now...

But really? Nobody here ever had a connection problem(s)?

You shouldn't be sorry. I am glad to know that most people have a fine experience. I did actually receive an email from Google the other day that their bots had experienced disconnects as well. I have not had this happen before.

for me, its the internet connection.. not the site.. i experience that everyday.. haha!

My internet connection sucks a lot and every 10-15 minutes it goes down for 3 seconds.
It does not disturb me while a play an online game just when I browse through the internet.
But I'm ok with that.
I think this is not cause by my coputer but it has to do with the modem.
May it's the same for ya.

Basing from the Downtime & Outages thread in this Forum, either it's with our internet connection or the server...

I'd like to report having the same experience too. I'm also from the Phil.

There are times when I wouldn't be able to simply visit a page on the hive, even if my internet connection is Excellent, and these events happen for about around 5 minutes to a whole hour(lasted 2 hours once), occurring every once in a while. And no, these 'events' do not happen around the time that the Hive gets Backed Up.

It's been getting in the way of when I upload some models. It's a small problem, but it gets really annoying.

If you do find a way of identifying this problem, I hope you guys find a solution for it.

Okay; a few weeks ago, Ralle told me and some hivers that almost had the same problem, to record when this occurs and report in a week; though it slipped out of my mind until now. For me, generally, this happens at around 2:00 PM and/or 8:00 PM (GMT + 10.00), and lasts about 15-25 mins.

Seems now it become a more dangerous issue, something is definitely wrong here.
I haven't experience this again at all from when the last post on the thread [by you MT] until now, so I thinks that this issue is solved.

Yeah, I've seen that thread, those guys are reporting about the same thing too. This is quite strange, something like this hasn't been happening before(of all the years I've been on the Hive).

Probably some aliens.

I think this must be a server issue.
Ralle, have you contact the site support for this? Maybe they know the issue.

I have experience a similar problem too. But usually could be solved with 2 - 3 refreshes.

EDIT: Oh and the slow connection in hive is getting a tad more frequent these days. usually around 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Phil time.

That's kinda strange, I think the Hiveworkshop's Slow connection due to Internet server traffic or Some strange issues happening in this site..

Just had trouble connecting to hive. Started 4:00 PM and ended in 4:45 PM. This is getting worse.
EDIT: Same with the other fellas.

Worst than this, Hive server seems to crash/down from 2 PM to 4 PM [GMT+8] for some unknown reason, first during 1 PM Hive has some connection issue, I even have to use a cached version of map section to see Hive before server got crashed/downtime.

There was scheduled downtime today. This was intentional and had nothing to do with the connection. I will however acknowledge that there is connection problems. I am trying to find out what it is.

I see, sorry, I thought there was a server issue with that, should have been informed sooner, many people was shocked when the maintenance occur.

Strangely, from what I can see so far, people with connection issue are mostly from Phillippines, which makes me curious, I haven't see any strange issue about connection at all for me.

So why are you guys getting so worked up about 30-60mins downtime/caching/dns changes/whatever?
You should be worrying when there's no response for days and you can't even ping the server.
It's not like the maps magically run away if the site is down for a short period of time, right?

Well, it's annoying, imagine if you can't dl your favorite map to play with, you will be very disappointed.

You're forgetting that SOME of us can't even upload models because of this problem.

And I do think it's best we start worrying about THIS NOW, rather than to wait for

...when there's no response for days and you can't even ping the server...

Think about that.

Plus, Ralle can't even identify what's causing the problem here, that makes this situation a lot worse.

Interesting; sometimes when I go to the Hive, I can see the front/main page, but it takes like 1-3 mins before I can do anything like check notifications. I don't know if this is related to the main problem... does anyone know what I'm talking about and/or experience it too?

Nah I think mine was only caused by that maintenance everything is okay again after that.
