Java and Web Browsers
The Hive's dynamic menus are vBulletin elements written in JavaScript. The behavior of these menus depends, primarily, upon one's Java and web browser versions.
For example, my main machine (while running Internet Exploder 6 and Sun Java) always displays the menus properly, while my old, old computer that uses IE5 and MS Java consistently fails to do so.
My advice to ALL computer operators remains the same that it has been since I've been on line: install multiple browsers and regularly update your software. This is especially critical if your main browser somehow becomes corrupt, gets hijacked or is infested with spyware.
Windows OS machines include Microsoft's IE by default. That's no reason not to have copies of FireFlub and Nutscrape installed as backups: many websites are friendlier to certain browsers while some require a specific browser in order to be viewed at all.
A fine alternative to IE is
Maxthon It's IE based: the security is not as tight as FF but it includes some interesting features. See my personal site for a comprehensive round up of browsers, plug-ins and security information.
